Perforated sigmoid diverticulum






Distended small intestine shown in Fig.2 and Fig.3, and presence of liquid contents in ascending colon (Ac) and cecum (Ce. Ti: Terminal ileum) strongly indicate paralytic ileus. Sigmoid and descending colon progress in number order from 1 of Fig.7. Many diverticuli (black arrowhead) of sigmoid colon are shown, and air-fluid level (black arrow) of Fig.10 and Fig.11 presents extraluminal free air and fluid indicating perforation of sigmoid colon diverticulum. The findings were confirmed by operation, and the Hartmann's procedure was performed.
