CT of Acute Abdomen

Special Edition of Obstruction1 RESIDENT COURSE [ObR Case 2]

Case ObR 2 (7.5mm slice): An 80-year-old female with a past history of appendectomy at age of 20 years. She developed abdominal pain and appetite loss in the morning, and was taken to hospital because aggravating pain was followed by vomiting in the afternoon. Temperature: 37.0 degrees Celsius. On examination, her abdomen was distended and tenderness was recognized in lower abdomen. Increased bowel sounds were audible. Bulging of left groin was apparently overlooked. CT san was taken the next day because of no symptomatic improvement. Fig.19-Fig.23 are coronal reconstructed images.
